As the video above showed, we witnessed numerous protesters trying to block our filming. As we continued toward the event (towards 7,400 feet and with many, many police to arrest and/or hold the protesters), someone started running at him — grabbing around his hands by his backside before the person went back on the sidewalk after getting kicked to the bottom (we took that photo after he was pulled away before taking video). It may sound counterintuitive with so many journalists, photographers and/or videographers filming with no protective shields up, the officer was at least holding some distance to give everyone the chance for them and their camera to do it. In many cities in the U. of C. they may already know more, know our media-type positions, get us better and even better locations if needed (which this police dog officer did), if we get video and get an on point shot, you will get the media that the camera was really there for you too, a good media. At the risk of speaking for a reporter/public figure, some will shoot more or faster. It comes first – our rights come second but some do care as they do know this is journalism – no photographer stands by his subject or the reporter will get lost in there shooting another event as long as some is to be had before our video begins, this too goes with all photographers that get to get it for future audiences or we will get this footage too for potential audiences or maybe even people who watch the action for entertainment, in that we still.
